UAE Entertainment Industry Recovery Continues

The entertainment industry in the United Arab Emirates continues to show signs of recovery from the epidemic, said the president of one of the largest operating companies in the region.

Alain Bejjani, CEO of retail and entertainment firm Majid Al Futtaim Holding, reports that current data for the second quarter of this year shows that the recovery is continuing. Consumer spending showed that online sales increased by 17% in the first half of 2021 and consumer spending in retail stores increased by 3%, he said.

“We still see a positive trend in the recovery of the United Arab Emirates. Some industries have made significant progress in returning to pre-epidemic levels,” he said.

He said it depends on vaccination measures. “We expect consumers’ desire to engage in multi-channel experiences to accelerate as digital solutions and technology become an integral part of everyday life.”

Mr Bejjani said the upcoming 2021 World Expo in Dubai was a major driving force for the Emirates tourism industry and would bring further recovery. His own research shows that shoppers are satisfied with their presence in public because 64% of people admit that they feel comfortable going to the mall and the number of visitors to the mall network Majid Al Futtaim sales rose 11% in the second quarter.
